Back in December 2015, we did a short interview with Feiertag (see here) to discuss his name-change, focus on live shows and favorite unknown talents. He told us that a new EP was on the horizon, and yes, it's here - The Rituals EP.
Sunday Mornings, the opening track starts you off easy. A vibe that you can wake up to. A little more reminiscent of his Hamertje Tik sound, it carries a more hip hop / future beats rhythm and feel. Funny enough, this sound doesn't show up again on the EP. Makes you wonder whether it's a throw-back / wink to all the 'older' fans.
After the opening track, the rest of the EP quickly changes pace and moves into the House stratosphere. Where The Parachute (ft. Tessa Rose Jackson) is a little more laidback, the entire EP seems to peak at the Disclosure-reminiscent, synths and beat of 'Down To You' (ft. Colin Lee). Energetic, with a great bassline - it's the 'anthem' of the EP. You can almost imagine and hear FEIERTAG play it live.
For anyone discovering FEIERTAG for the first time, keep in mind that he's a phenomenal live-performer. He builds every track from scratch. Recording every kick, snare and sound on a mic before sampling it himself. His music is meant to be listened to like that as well. It's a great start to 2016, and we look forward to hearing more from him this year!
