Funky future beats all the way from Sydney, Australia - this young-gun producer caught our eye pretty quick. You will have seen his name come by on some of our weekly playlists, or even some of our webisodes.
Most importantly though, you may know him from the Swindail goes to America EP, which was not only amazing but also entirely crowd-funded (see here). There's not much to say, other than that he's apparently a little quirky, just as his beats - but if his beats are anything to go by, then it's the right type of quirky. He was kind enough to do a short interview:
cosmo's midnight - walk with me (feat. kučka) [swindail remix]
Explain your sound to us? How would you describe it?
Weird percussion, everything laced up with drippy rhodes piano, rhythm-driven, little bit different.
If someone asked to listen to just one track of yours, in order to understand your music better, which tracks would it be and why?
Two Stomp just because it's probably the weirdest.
Which of your own productions are your personal favourite (and why)?
If you could collaborate with anyone world-wide (and resources weren’t an issue), who would it be and why?
Right now it would have to be Anderson .Paak, he's just a god and is so diverse in regards to what he can do, I think we'd have a shot at making something really really cooooool.
What’s the one thing that you absolutely love about the music scene at the moment? That reminds you every time why you chose this profession?
When shows are really fun and everything is just a packed, sweaty mess, I really get in the zone and it reminds me how lucky I am doing this at all.
What’s the one thing you’re cringing about at the moment, when it comes to the music scene? Something that (almost) makes you want to stop?
Twitter fights in between artists and in between just industry people in general. It's sorta lame.
What can we expect from you in 2016?
A bunch of awesome new remixes, some pretty big collaborations, a few new singles, my annoying face absolutely everywhere and lots more cheesecake.
Is there someone (producer) out there that you think everyone should learn about and discover (that they might not already know of)? Who’s that hidden gem at the moment, according to you?
I'd probably say Goldwash. Just listen, you'll know why.
What’s the biggest misconception people have of the music industry?
That it's always fun. It sucks a lot of the time. That's cool tho, just ignore that I suppose.
