With the success of street wear brands like Palace, BAPE, Stussy, and Supreme, the lines between street wear and high fashion are starting to blur. Proving the point even further are brands like Commes des Garcons, Vetements, and Gosha Rubchinskiy which are mostly considered high fashion but rely very heavily on street wear aesthetics. Street wear, it seems, its reaching a niche in the market for stylish and comfortable, but exclusive and luxurious clothing.
Some high fashion brands are taking note of street wear’s popularity and are following suit. For example, Gucci which has been a runway staple for many years, has started doing collaborations which some rather unexpected parties. Just like their street wear brothers have done before, Gucci has teamed up with Peanuts and Donald Duck for some capsule collections.
Gucci x Donald Duck
Gucci x Snoppy
Gucci has always been a bit of an ugly duckling (see what I did there...), with its odd patterns and designs, so design-wise these cartoon collaborations aren't so strange. With a price tag of $480 for one of the Snoppy tees and $1,150 for a crewneck, we are left with one important question... What the fuck are you tripping on Gucci.
