Aussie artist Lushsux battles censorship of murals (NSFW)

Lushsux, a street artist based in Australia, got a lot attention when he put up a mural in Melbourne depicting presidential nominee Hillary Clinton clad in an American flag swimsuit, with dollars stuffed into the waist band.

Shortly after that the local government requested that the business whose wall the mural was painted on, remove the piece as depicting a half-naked woman was offensive. Someone tell that to advertisers. Lushsux decided to step in and censor his mural himself by covering Hillary up with a niqab, a veil covering all but the eyes which is worn by some Muslim women and typically found in countries in the Middle East to varying extents. The text "If this Muslim woman offends U, U R A bigot, racist, sexist islamophobe" in response to the depiction of near-naked woman being offensive is a clear statement that parallels the censorship of women in some Middle Eastern countries.

Lushsux is also the artist responsible for the RIP Taylor Smith piece and a great one involving Melania Trump.

Apparently, Australia is big on censorship but the internet never forgets.
