WHATSGOOD. WITH KLYNE

The first track that you upload on SoundCloud gets half a million plays, a couple hundred of blog mentions, BBC One airplay and a request from Disclosure to do a remix of one of their tracks. It sounds like the fantasy of every starting musician, but it actually happened to Nick Klein and Ferdous Dehzad, better known as Klyne. The track 'Paralyzed' kicked off their musical career in a way they couldn't have anticipated. Now, with still only a handful of officially released tracks, they're playing some really big festivals this summer.

"[T]he year has been sick so far and it can be a bit distracting when working on new music. So we try our best not to think about that too much."

Hey Nick and Ferdous, what’s good? Can you give us a little introduction as to who you are and where you’re from?

Ferdous: We're an electronic pop duo from the south of Holland.

Explain your sound to us? How would you describe it?

Nick: Well, if it needs a description, I would describe it as electro tropical pop/soul.

What are your musical influences?

Ferdous: Artists like Soulwax, Tiga and Erol Alkan are pretty much my biggest influences.

What’s your favorite own track and why? What’s the track that most defines your sound?

Nick: My favourite own track isn’t out yet. But from the ones that we did live and are out already, I would say a song called 'Ecstasy'.

Would you like to collaborate with other artists in the near future? If so, who would you like to collaborate with if you could choose anyone worldwide?

Ferdous: Kanye West.

Which artist right now is the one you’re most excited about, that you feel everyone should know about?

Nick: Recently I’ve reeeeeeally been into a British artist called Raffertie! His song 'Last Train Home' has been on repeat on my phone for several weeks now.

You guys seem to have come out of nowhere. What are your views on this?

Ferdous: Haha I don't know it's pretty exciting, the year has been sick so far and it can be a bit distracting when working on new music. So we try our best not to think about that too much.

What can we expect from you in 2016?

Nick: We’re currently working hard on our album that should be out within a year. There’s actually a new single coming out in about a month! We’re playing some shows and festivals including Pitch (NL), The Great Escape (UK), Melt (GER) and a few more.
