Another name from Amsterdam that we feel deserves more light. This female DJ and producer initially surprised the shit out of us, when she was dropping bass-grimey bangers while spinning flawlessly at the Chicago Social Club in Amsterdam, a few years back. You might know her as 22tracks Bass ambassador for Amsterdam (together with Brutuzz) or as part of the team behind the label and parties, Bassed. But having released tracks with our homies Doggtown Records as well as ZenSupremacy, we know she's a fun- and bass- lover, so we decided to interview her.
Explain your sound to us? How would you describe it?
It’s a combination of a lot of bass related sounds, I find that in a lot of genre’s. From beats to grime and 4x4 to dub. Pinch said; “If your chest aint rattlin - it aint happenin”. I agree ;).
Are you still making music? The last release we saw was ‘No Way’ released with Doggtown? (Explain the situation)
I actually released a 3 track EP in October on Zen Supremacy w/ Chef Red. I’m currently working on my first solo EP, i just don’t want to rush in to anything that i’m not certain about. My pervious releases where more for the fun of it, the next EP will be much closer to me as a person.
What’s the one thing you absolutely love about the music-scene at the moment? That reminds you every time why you chose this profession?
Ehm, I love a lot of things about the music scene right now. The fact that we are combining so many sounds, old and new. We are blending genre’s and people feel more open to experiments. I’m not talking about commercial radio and stuff though, but I notice it around me and that feels good.
What’s the one thing you’re cringing about at the moment, when it comes to the music-scene? Something that (almost) makes you want to stop?
Haha, nothing that’s going on right now in the music scene will make me want to stop. Of course there are some things that disappoint me but hey ;) no ‘scene’ is perfect right?
Which of your own productions are your favourite? (and why?)
I made a track with Patchwork almost a year ago, we never really finished it but it’s still my favourite. I think we’ll release it in 2016, we must. And of course the EP i’m working on now, makes me really happy!
Which artist right now is the one you’re most excited about, that you feel everyone should know about?
There are a lot actually, i’ll put most of those artists in my 22tracks playlist (together with Brutuzz). And besides the bass related things my absolute favourite is Vuurwerk from Belgium. They make amazing industrial ambient.
If you could collaborate with anyone world-wide (and resources weren’t an issue), who would it be and why?
What can we expect from you in 2016?
New Bassed events, a bunch of international releases and a lot more traveling :D. I can’t wait!
